Lifeguard FA/CPR-PR Recert Class
City of Fresno PARCS Lifeguard Certification Course is taught by highly trained American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard Instructors. Classes will provide students with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. Students will receive a Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification, which is valid for two years upon successful completion of the Lifeguarding course.
Lifeguarding Certification Pre-Requisites:
• 15 years of age
• Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed.
• Swim 20 yards, surface dive to a minimum of 7 – 10 feet retrieve a 10-pound brick and return.
• Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.
To receive certification, individuals must:
• Correctly perform the physical skills required by the class.
• Pass 2 multiple choice tests with at least 80% accuracy.
• Demonstrate competency in all critical skills.
• Successfully complete 2 final skill scenarios.
All classes listed below are LG/FA/CPR/AED/PR.
Attendance for all days is REQUIRED.
Class Location: Mosqueda Community Center Pool (4670 E. Butler Ave., Fresno, CA 93702)
Cost: $200 Full Certification/ $125 Recertification (Recerts must provide proof of current certification)
Free for City of Fresno Aquatics Employees. Please email Dib.Vang@fresno.gov for employee registrations.

Class Times:
Friday 5pm - 9pm
Saturday & Sunday 8am - 5pm (30-minute lunch break)
