2023 Lifeguard Certification Classes - 2023 LG Certification Classes

City of Fresno PARCS Lifeguard Certification Course is taught by highly trained American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard Instructors. Classes will provide students with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over. Students will receive a Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification, which is valid for two years upon successful completion of the Lifeguarding course.

Lifeguarding Certification Pre-Requisites:
• 15 years of age
• Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed.
• Swim 20 yards, surface dive to a minimum of 7 – 10 feet retrieve a 10-pound brick and return.
• Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.

To receive certification, individuals must:
• Correctly perform the physical skills required by the class.
• Pass 2 multiple choice tests with at least 80% accuracy.
• Demonstrate competency in all critical skills.
• Successfully complete 2 final skill scenarios.

Cost: $200 Full Certification/ $125 Recertification

Location: Mosqueda Community Center (4670 E. Butler Ave., Fresno, CA 93702)
Lifeguarding certificates issued upon successful completion of class {valid for 2 years}.
All classes listed below are LG/FA/CPR/AED/PR.
Attendance for all days is REQUIRED.

1) April 28 – 30 (Fri. – Sun.) LG/FA/CPR/AED/PR & Recert Fri. 5 – 9 p.m. Sat. & Sun. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
2) May 5 – 7 (Fri. – Sun.) LG/FA/CPR/AED/PR & Recert Fri. 5 – 9 p.m. Sat. & Sun. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
3) May 19 – 21 (Fri. – Sun.) LG/FA/CPR/AED/PR & Recert Fri. 5 – 9 p.m. Sat. & Sun. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
4) May 26 – 28 (Fri. – Sun.) LG/FA/CPR/AED/PR & Recert Fri. 5 – 9 p.m. Sat. & Sun. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
5) June 2 – 4 (Fri. – Sun.) LG/FA/CPR/AED/PR & Recert Fri. 5 – 9 p.m. Sat. & Sun. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Entomology Workshop at Highway City - 2023 Spring Entomology Workshop

FREE HIGHWAY CITY COMMUNITY SCIENCE CENTER SPRING WORKSHOP!!!
Students, ages 7 – 17 will learn what it means to be an Entomologist, as we study the life cycle of various insects! You will learn to observe various creatures at our center. Watch caterpillars grow and learn what they eat, as well as how ants communicate and interact as a community. Come explore with us and enjoy tasty snacks!
